We finally got our first real look at the live action Legend of Zelda movie and... it actually looks amazing. Like, not just "video game adaptation amazing," but actually really good!. The first images dropped on the Nintendo Today app and they show Link and Zelda in a bright green, ridiculously cinematic field that basically screams "yes, this is absolutely Hyrule."
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is playing Link, and he honestly looks like he walked straight out of the Ocarina of Time character select screen. And Bo Bragason as Zelda? Perfect. Hylian ears, signature bow, the whole vibe is exactly what you'd want from a live action Zelda. She looks like she's two seconds away from saying something mysterious and wise before shooting a monster in the face.

Produced by Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto himself, the film stars two young actors who already have solid fantasy and genre credits. Bragason has been in BBC dramas, Disney projects, and a vampire comedy, and Ainsworth is the voice of Pinocchio in Zemeckis's version and creeped us all out in The Haunting of Bly Manor.
My big question now: will Link be talking? Because if you remember the old Zelda cartoon, the guy would not shut up. "Excuuuuuuuse me, princess" is burned into my brain forever. Are we getting Chatty Link, or will the movie invent some lore reason for him to stay silent like he's been doing since 1986? I genuinely don't mind either way, I just want to know what direction we're going in before we see him grunt his way through emotional scenes.

Either way, these first images? They give me hope. Real hope. Please let this movie be good.
